Worthington

Heritage and a sense of community can be found in the beautifully landscaped streets, quiet neighborhoods, excellent schools, and vibrant central business district that make up the City of Worthington.

Founded in 1803, the City of Worthington was named in honor of Ohio’s sixth Governor and one of the state’s first senators – Thomas Worthington. Many of the original buildings from the Worthington settlement are beautifully preserved and can be enjoyed with a walk in the city’s downtown, “Old Worthington.” Seasoned with colonial, New England charm, “Old Worthington” is home to treelined streets of historic homes, churches, and specialty stores. The Village Green in the heart of “Old Worthington” serves as the site for major public ceremonies and festivals including the annual Pooch Parade in April – the largest dog parade in America featuring 8,000 dogs – and a Farmer’s Market every Saturday morning from May to October.

Worthington offers numerous amenities to its residents including a variety of homes in both style and price; dining for every taste from casual to elegant; a Community Center; an awardwinning school system with nearly 90 percent of its graduates continuing their education after high school; a skate park for skateboarders and inline skaters; a nearly 200-acre park system with 13 parks; and the Griswold Senior Center.

Situated just nine miles north of downtown Columbus, Worthington is in close proximity to Interstate 270, Interstate 71 and Route 315.
