Pickerington

One of the fastest growing communities in the State of Ohio, Pickerington continues to maintain high standards for development and a desirable quality of life for its residents. From the quaint antique and craft shops in the Olde Pickerington Village to the new commercial corridor along State Route 256, the city offers an aesthetic appeal like the natural landscape that earned it the name “Violet Capital of Ohio.”

The City of Pickerington is a friendly, upscale community that affords its residents a small-town atmosphere and big-city conveniences. This suburb of Columbus, located in Fairfield County, has grown from a village in 1980 to a city with a population of more than 11,000. Originally inhabited by the Wyandotte, Shawnee and Mingo Native American Indian tribes, Pickerington was incorporated in 1808. The area is rich with native culture including artifacts and burial mounds.

The city’s department of parks and recreation maintains 150 acres of parkland located in five parks. These facilities include shelter houses with picnic tables and grills, playgrounds, the Zeller-Smith Covered Bridge, sports fields, bike paths and more. Pickerington Local School District, the 35th largest district in the state, continually receives the highest ratings possible on the State of Ohio Department of Education’s Local Report Card. Standards used to determine these results include proficiency test scores, graduation rates and attendance rates.

The City of Pickerington is conveniently located off of Interstate 70, 16 miles from Port Columbus International Airport and 17 miles from downtown Columbus.
