COLUMBUS
Columbus is the 16th-largest city and the 34th-largest metropolitan market (1.4 million) in the country.  It is the state capital and also the fastest growing city in Ohio.  The city is innovative and known worldwide for the large presence of progressive businesses in its economy and its quality workforce.

Fortune magazine rates Columbus among the top five cities by  the number of innovative firms. Corporations such as CompuServe, Battelle Memorial Institute, Nationwide Insurance, The Limited and Wendy's International are based in Columbus.

Columbus also is home to Ohio State University, with the largest single campus population in the world (52,000 students).

Just as the suburban communities that outline the city have developed distinct images for themselves, so have the many areas within the city.

To the north, northwest and northeast are a number of subdivisions ranging from the older and established, to new. There is an abundance of both single family homes and condominiums. Most are in large carefully planned areas and constructed by a number of well-known builders.

Closer to downtown, the established communities of Clintonville and Beechwold have a selection of fine older homes ranging from  30 to 70 years old on mature wooded lots.

Just to the south of downtown is German Village; one of the oldest areas in Columbus. The housing consists mostly of small brick residences built close to the sidewalks with picturesque iron fences patterned after housing in Germany.
